Over the years British cops have fought citizen smuck in Suburus. Now one the road crime department at Humberside Police has decided to up the ante on crime fighting by taking delivery of Lexus IS-F police car. The 168 mph (270km/h) rear wheel sports sedan packs a 417HP 5.0-liter V8 that leaves me feeling bad for anyone that sees this in the rear view mirror.

The Humberside Police department is responsible for the riding of Yorkshire, city of Kingston, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnsihire. The rationale for picking the IS-F over anything else (Mitsu Evo, Subaru Impreza, Ford whatever), according to Sergeant Mike Peck:

“The Lexus was tested during a 12-month period along with similar vehicles and proved itself to be ideally suited in providing a dynamically safe high performance chassis along with an electronically stable platform for the computer equipment. In the past this equipment has placed huge demands on vehicles but the Lexus IS-F easily met with our requirements. The final product provides a most formidable package and is undoubtedly one of the most advanced police vehicles in the world which in turn enables my officers to deal with the criminals who use the roads for serious and organized crime.”

Add special stickers and flashy LED lights to the IS-F and you’re looking at an extra £30,000 (about $50k or €34k) worth of features on an already expensive getup.
