100 next-gen Electric Priuses leased in France

Toyota has announced that they’ll be teaming up with French energy company EDF and to introduce a trial run of Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHV) in Strasbourg, France. So far the plan is to lease one hundred next-generation Priuses with lithium-ion batteries to select companines in the Strasbourg area for a duration of three years.
The electric initiative is part of an extended study to evaluate the real world usability of electric cars in urban areas equipped with public electric charging stations. The project is set to expand to Japan and the USA as early as this coming winter.
EDF and Toyota started their European study using the current generation Plug-in Hybrid Prius Vehicles in France in the fall of 2007. The project expanded to the UK in 2008.
